The CRPF is yet another protective service in India which recruits men women who are enthusiastic dedicated and who are able to lead the people during the crisis period, rendering duty anywhere in India.
The Ranks in the CRPF includes the Director General or DG followed by Inspector General or IG and then Deputy IG. They are followed by the Commandants and Deputy Commandants. 

The Commandants have under them Assistant or Company Commandants. They are responsible for proficient operations of CRPF. These are followed by Sub Inspectors and Constables who form the major part of CRPF

BSF was established in 1965 basically to man the Indian boundaries and to provide security to the border areas and to control activities that may threaten India’s defence structure.

The hierarchy and ranks in BSF are pretty much similar to the CRPF Ranks.

ITBP was formed in order to man the Indo Tibet and India China Border in the Himalayan ranges. It Patrols the border areas and keeps a vigil there. ITBP Personnel are responsible for guarding the Tibetan Border against smuggling and infiltration. 

The people are trained to Patrol these mountainous regions by specialized training in mountaineering. The Ranks in ITBP are similar to other Paramilitary forces. 


CISF was established to provide security to the industrial establishments in India. The Ranks include the IG, followed by Deputy Inspector Generals, Commandants, Assistant Commandants, Inspectors, Sub Inspectors and Security Guards. 

The major role of CISF is to provide security to the Public Sector Industries and its staff. They are also responsible for checking thefts, pilferage in these industries and to keep a vigil against espionage.
The CISF staff is trained to handle industrial emergencies.


Home Guard Force
Home Guard Force was set up as a stand by force to assist during emergencies and to maintain law and order. It also helps in maintaining traffic in the cities. The Home guards enjoy privileges similar to those provided to the police services. Their work is to supplement the Police Forces of the state.

Police Force
To prevent crime and to maintain law and order situation all the states appoints Police Force. The major role is to enforce law and order in the state. The traffic Police is responsible for enforcing and monitoring road traffic regulations of the state. Also ensures smooth traffic flow on the roads.

The Local Police Personnel are responsible for investigating offences and lodges complaints of the public at the Police stations. Police also provide detective services to track down the anti social elements, terrorists and criminals. The Police Force also works and operates in conjunction with the intelligence and forensic experts. They also assist the administration during disaster situation and help relief operations of the state.
Territorial Army
Territorial Army is one of the forces of National Defence. The recruitment of the personnel in the Territorial Army and their training is conducted with the help of Additional DG. The contact details of the Additional Directorate General for Territorial Army is

If you are commissioned as an officer in the Territorial Army you may be called and required to provide your services as and when required. The recruitment in Territorial Army for Infantry Officers is open to the Graduates between 18 and 42 years of age.
