If you are good at
Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at 12th level and still want to
continue to study same subjects but with a view to make your career, then
Pharmacy is the best choice for you. Pharmacy is one of the fast growing fields
in India these days. This subject is very interesting and you can
learn various techniques involved in the preparation and administration of
medicines in the healthcare industry. You will also study important topics like
synthesis of drugs formulations, analysis, regulations, testing, and research
drugs for medications with training in General Physics, Human Anatomy and
Physiology. It is a research oriented subject.
So just don’t get disheartened when you are not able to make it to the Medical Test Entrance Exam. There are limited seats and only few make it and go there to study medicine. That doesn’t mean you are not capable to do anything. It doesn’t make you less intelligent either.
There are so many
options for you to pursue further. Pharmacy is one such line which you can
pursue after you’ve completed your 10+2 with science subjects.
There is a diploma
course, Diploma in Pharmacy of 2 years duration or a graduate degree course
which has duration of 4 years. Both the courses require an internship of 6
month to gain practical exposure. Post graduate course is also available after graduation
in pharmacy, and then you can further pursue Ph.D in Pharmacy
Who can apply
for Pharmacy Course?
Science students (both
Mathematics and Bio groups- PCM/B), who have passed 12th standard
board examination from a recognized board are eligible to pursue this course.
How to get admission in Pharmacy
Course
The candidates applying for this course must satisfy the minimum marks
criteria, which is 50% marks (in PCM/B subjects). Most institutes follow the
merit based admission process, where deserving candidates are allotted seats
based on the marks scored by them in board examination and entrance test. In
case of some Deemed Universities and reputed private
institutes, private entrance tests are used to allot seats to deserving
students.
