CRPF or Central Reserve Police Force was established in the year July 27, 1939. It was then Crown Representative’s Police and became CRPF in 28th December 1949.
CRPF is one of the armed Forces of the Union of India. The major responsibility of CRPF is to strike reserve to assist the State or Union Territories during Police operations to maintain law and order and contain insurgency. The services of CRPF are also being utilized for various police duties in various States

CRPF Mahila Battalion
The first CRPF Mahila Battalion 88(M) Bn was formed in the year 1986 with Head Quarters in Delhi. With the increasing need of women cops to deal with the law and order situation in the CRPF created the second Mahila Battalion 135(M) Bn with its Head Quarters in Gandhinagar (Gujarat) in 1995.
Recently in 2011 CRPF has formed a New CRPF Mahila Battalion, 213 Bn in Ajmer Rajasthan.
