Here is good news for all of you who wish to join the Income tax department. The Cabinet has taken a decision in May 2013 and has finally approved revamp of the income-tax department of India. The Income Tax department will soon announce recruitment 2013-2014 for recruiting 20,000 tax officials all over India in the next two years. This recruitment in the IT department will allow it to process tax refunds expeditiously and throw more resources at catching tax evaders.
 
According to P Chidambaram "Cabinet has approved creation of 20,751 additional posts in I-T Department as part of revamp... This will help generate additional revenue of 25,000 crore annually," finance minister P Chidambaram has said

The extra posts will cost about Rs 500 crores to the government but it will help boost the revenue to the tune of 25000 crores.
